Rapper Q-tip will bring his musical knowledge and experience in the entertainment business to students at New York University.
The Tribe Called Quest founding group member has been tapped to teach a class at NYU's Clive Davis Institute Of Recorded Music In The Tisch School of the Arts.
The new class will focus on the historical links between hip-hop and Jazz music.
The rapper has teamed with journalist Ashley Kahn for the course, which will comprise seven classes with Q-Tip as the teacher.
“I couldn’t be more excited to share with the students what I know and I look forward to them also teaching me," Q-Top said. "Teaching is an exchange of sharing and receiving for all involved.”
Artists like The Last Poets, Stetsasonic, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, and Kendrick Lamar will be dissected during the course.
